Conifer Canine offers some very unique dog-related seminars and workshops. These are not your run-of-the-mill dog training seminars rehashing boring outdated information. Our seminars are very relevant, progressive, focused, and aim for the top notch in dog training material. Check out the dates and admission (occasionally some are free) on our Upcoming Events page. Most are held at our Training Center near Spencer, IN.
For example, a popular seminar is the Canine Breeding seminar. This seminar touches on the basics but also delves into some of the deeper issues; genetics, responsible practices, health testing, purposeful breeding, benefits and dangers of inbreeding and linebreeding, and much more. It is concise yet very informative. It is certainly worth the admission to those who are considering bringing a litter into the world and those who have some dog breeding experience. Past attendees who have bred dogs for over 10 years have expressed that they learned much in the seminar.
Another presentation is our “How to Use and E-Collar” seminar. This includes the do’s and don’ts of E-Collar use (also called a Remote Trainer), how to strengthen the bond between human and dog, the “nuts and bolts” of usage, developing clear lines of communication, and much more. The seminar is designed for those wanting to use an E-collar or those who have reservations about its use. It discusses several misconceptions about the Collar and offers better, positive, alternative actions.
Our years of training experience has brought us to the realization that there is much illiteracy out there about working dogs. As working dog specialists, we offer some working dog seminars and workshops to help mitigate that malady.
One of these is our “Raising a Working Puppy” workshop. This includes some lecture time but also includes hands-on training time as well. It sheds light on the fact that working prospect puppies can be frustrating for many unaware owners and that working puppies and pet puppies should be raised differently, and to raise them the same will be detrimental. It discusses drive development and confidence building.
Another desirable workshop for those in the working dog community is our Decoy Techniques workshop. Attendees will be taking bites from dogs so if this is not your forte, please do not sign up ???? It includes some lecture time as well as hands-on experience in decoy/helper work. It comes from the perspective of real-world training, not sport training (even though there are differences between the two, there are also similarities). It builds upon safe helper techniques – for both the dog and the decoy – and encourages the decoy to work with the dog, not against him. Good decoys are few and far between, so we aim at raising the bar in solid decoy work.
Each seminar/workshop is taught by experienced trainers and Instructors. These individuals have been successful in their respective training fields as well as teaching in a classroom setting. They love dogs and have a passion for them to succeed.
To see when these dog training seminars are held, visit our Upcoming Events page. Some are held annually, some more often, some less often.
